Reiki Near Me
Reiki Olympia, Wa.

"Reiki has been shown to be better than placebo for inducing a state of relaxation. Physiologically, this means that Reiki is effective in activating the parasympathetic nervous system, quantitatively measured as reduced heart rate, reduced blood pressure, and increased heart rate variability."

 -National Library of Medicine

Why Reiki? Reiki therapy assists in aligning the energy centers of the body (commonly known as chakras). Reiki induces a state of deep relaxation and an overall sense of well-being. The seven primary chakras are vertically aligned from the sacrum to the top of the head and are the focus of a Reiki treatment. Each of these energy centers is suggested to be connected to specific emotional states and regions of the physical body (for example the "heart chakra"). Chakras are purported to harbor emotional trauma causing an imbalance within chakras and one's overall sense of well-being. Reiki seeks to stabilize these imbalances and assists in the repair of negative emotional states, energetic health and overall well-being. Reiki attunes the client's body with a "universal life force" seeking to return the client to a state of energetic and emotional homeostasis. Reiki is a metaphysical doctrine and practice.

What does a Reiki practitioner do? A Reiki healer is one who has been trained and attuned by a Reiki master becoming part of a lineage and connecting the practitioner to a universal life force ("Reiki energy"). A Reiki practitioner learns specific techniques for delivering Reiki, as well as multiple symbols each with a different energetic purpose that are delivered to a client through the practitioner's hands. The practitioner acts as a conduit for delivering Reiki to those seeking this healing energy. Reiki energy is suggested to be "intelligent", meaning the practitioner does not need to be psychic or have special abilities to specifically direct Reiki energy, only to be a conduit for it and have been trained and attuned by a Reiki master to deliver Reiki properly to all of the energy centers of the body. Reiki practitioners are often highly intuitive and empathic sensing areas within the body that require extra focus, attention, and application of Reiki energy. The Reiki received here is based on the Usui-Reiki system and delivered to the standards of the International Center for Reiki Healing.

The process: Clients are comfortably positioned atop a massage table fully clothed. The client's eyes are covered to block out any light and allow the eyes to completely relax. Soft music plays in the background and crystal sound bowls are used to emit vibration. The client is guided through some deep breathing to begin entering a state of relaxation. Seven small stones are placed over each of the primary chakras. The practitioner will then begin the Reiki treatment. This combines gently placing the hands upon various regions of the body, and the practitioner will guide their hands a few inches above the client, allowing Reiki to wash through the entire physical and energetic body. Clients can also expect some application of deep relaxing pressure and gentle pulling and stretching of the body.

Sound Bowls and Tuning Forks are utilized. Specific energy symbols are directed into the chakras through the practitioner's hands. The client can expect to experience an increasing state of relaxation and calmness as Reiki balances the energy centers of the body leading to a state of deep mental and physical relaxation. Some clients report feeling warmth, coolness, or tingling sensations as the energy passes through them. Other clients have reported "seeing colors" and "flashes" behind their eyelids. Reiki offers a client the opportunity to become fully present in their body. It is not uncommon to have an emotional release during a Reiki treatment such as suddenly feeling the need to cry. The practitioner is there to support the client through the entire process.

About Reiki

"Reiki was developed by Mikao Usui in Japan in the 1920s. It is a relaxing form of healing therapy that is applied through noninvasive, nonmanipulative gentle touch. Reiki involves light laying of hands just above or on the clothed body, working over the front and back in a slow progression of hand positions. Reiki has no religious doctrine and is accepted by people from all backgrounds and belief systems."

 - National Library of Medicine

"Reiki is not an alternative to allopathic medicine—it is a “complementary” therapy that can be implemented alongside all other medical and therapeutic techniques. It is a gentle technique that is suitable for even very fragile patients, so it is accepted widely in hospitals and hospices around the world. The profound relaxation produced by Reiki has been anecdotally reported to alleviate anxiety and stress, the perception of pain, and to promote a feeling of psychospiritual well-being."
